A recent study has shown that the majority of the world’s top marketing professionals fail to take the basics of SEO seriously.
A study by marketing school KPU, found that only 3.3% of those working in the top marketing professions are SEO experts.
The study is published in the Journal of Marketing.
“The lack of a good understanding of SEO is a big concern,” KPU Marketing Manager, Peter Farr, told the New Scientist.
As well as failing to take SEO seriously, KPU’s study found that those who were working in these roles were more likely to have a lack of understanding of their profession.
Farr said that SEO was becoming increasingly popular, and was a very “key” part of a company’s success.
But, Farr also added that, if you want to be a top-notch marketing professional, it was important that you had the knowledge to get it right.
So, how can you learn to properly apply SEO to your business?
First of all, it is important to understand that, while it may seem like a very basic skill, it can be very important to your success.
“What you need to understand is how SEO works,” Farr said.
According to Farr it takes three years of practice and a strong understanding of the fundamentals of SEO to become an SEO expert.
“It’s not a hard skill to learn,” he added.
KPU’s survey of the top 200 most influential companies in the world found that they were using an average of 40% of their workforce to do SEO.
It is estimated that by 2020, the number of SEO experts in the global economy will reach more than 1,100,000, up from around 100,000 in 2015.
“If you want the right people, the right resources and the right environment, you need a strong knowledge of SEO,” Fars said.
“The first step is to build a career that will be your career.”
